Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Rohm & Haas (NYSE: ROH) (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) has plans to build a new automotive coatings technical research center a few blocks from their existing automotive coatings plant in Lansing, Illinois.
The new 46,000 square foot technical research center will house a new state of the art automotive coatings trial line that will produce finishers for plastic parts for passenger cars, such as bumpers, side moldings and spoilers. The estimated $15 million investment will include a power wash station, thermal finishing unit and an application stage that will be used for customer demonstrations.
The land has been cleared for construction since the end of 2002, but building erection and equipment installation will be delayed until at least next year for undisclosed reasons. They have also short-listed a general contractor but will not perform final selection until early next year. Completion is anticipated for the end of 2004.
Rohm & Haas Company is one of the worlds' largest producers of technologically mature applications and products for a wide range of markets. Some products include paint and coatings, electronics, household and personal care products, water treatment, adhesives and salt. The majority of these products are used to enhance productivity of high quality end products and finished goods. They are rarely even seen by the consumer.
With over $5.7 billion in sales, Rohm & Haas is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has over 100 manufacturing plants in over 25 countries.
