Russia's chemical companies produced 1.78 million tons of polyethylene (PE) in 2018, as domestic consumption reached a five-year high of 1.9 million tons.
Russia imported between 457,000 and 467,000 tons of PE last year, with Belarus and Uzbekistan as the major contributors. But Russian producers are optimistic that the PE market is recovering from a crisis in 2013 and will continue to grow.
Russia is planning 19 PE projects that will add more than 7 million tons per annum of PE by 2025. Most of these projects are in their early stages. Click here for a list of projects, and see map below.
