Sabra Dipping Company Completes Manufacturing Plant in Virginia

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Sabra Dipping Company LLC (Astoria, New York), a joint-venture of Strauss Group (Tel Aviv, Israel) and PepsiCo Incorporated (NYSE:PEP) (Purchase, New York), has completed construction of its kosher and vegetarian foods-manufacturing plant in the Ruffin Mill Industrial Park in Chesterfield County, Virginia. An initial 160 jobs will be created when the plant begins operating, rising to 260 positions when the plant becomes fully operational.

Built on a 49-acre site and valued at $60 million, the project entailed construction of a 110,000-square-foot building and the installation of state-of-the-art food-manufacturing equipment to produce Sabra brand dips and spreads, including the best-selling Sabra hummus and vegetable dips. The plant is LEED-certified and uses alternative energy sources.

Dennis Group LLC (Springfield, Massachusetts) was awarded the design-build contract for the new facility. Balzer and Associates Incorporated (Richmond, Virginia) provided civil engineering. Mechanical work, including plumbing, wastewater infrastructure, HVAC and natural gas systems, were performed by Warwick Plumbing and Heating Corporation (Newport News, Virginia). Republic Refrigeration (Monroe, North Carolina) was awarded the refrigeration contract.
