Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)--Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia), a state-owned national oil company, will bring the Khursaniyah natural gas-processing plant online by the end of 2011. The project is a part of the Khursaniyah gas plant, which was brought online in April 2010 with a production capacity of 550 million cubic feet per day of gas and 290,000 barrels per day of ethane and natural gas liquids.
The Khursaniyah gas plant includes an oil production plant that commenced in August 2008 to process and stabilize 500,000 barrels per day of Arabian Light crude oil blend from the Abu Hadriya, Fadhili and Khursaniyah fields, and a grassroots gas plant to process 1 billion cubic feet per day of associated gas. The plant is integrated with the Khursaniyah gas-processing facility to minimize required utilities and capture synergies.
The Khursaniyah field produces light crude, favored by global refineries because it is easier than heavy crude to process for transport fuels. Khursaniyah is one of the largest Saudi expansion plans. Combined with associated gas from the Manifa project, the net production increase of gas processing at the Khursaniyah plant is forecast to be 1.8 billion cubic feet per day.
The Khursaniyah natural gas processing plant project includes the construction of two trains of gas conditioning and ethane and natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery with a capacity to produce 66,400 barrels per day of condensate process 90 million cubic feet per day of natural gas and 1,800 tons of sulfur.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2011 and require a total investment value of approximately $500 million.
Foster Wheeler AG (NASDAQ:FWLT), with Saudi Aramco, is providing the front-end engineering and design, and project management consultancy. The engineering, procurement and construction contract has been awarded to GS Engineering & Construction Company (Seoul, South Korea).
