SEPCC3 Places First Bucket of Concrete for Main Powerhouse of Duyen Hai 1 Power Plant in Vietnam

The kick-off ceremony for the placing of the first bucket of concrete for main powerhouse of Duyen Hai 1 Power Plant's 1,244-megawatt, Phase I project was held in Vietnam on November 25

Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The kick-off ceremony for the placing of the first bucket of concrete for main powerhouse of Duyen Hai 1 Power Plant's 1,244-megawatt (MW), Phase I project, which is contracted to Sichuan No.3 Electric Power Construction Company (SEPCC3) (Chengdu, Sichuan), a subsidiary of the Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), was held in Vietnam on November 25, 2012. Leaders and representatives from Vietnam Electricity (EVN) (Hanoi), Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) (Chengdu, Sichuan), and the local government, including the deputy governor of the Tra Vinh province, attended the ceremony, according to an announcement from the PCCC on November 26.

The Duyen Hai 1 Power Plant is located on coast of Duyen Hai county, Tra Vinh province, which is 45 kilometers southeast of Tra Vinh county and about 320 kilometers south of Ho Chi Minh City. As part of the Duyen Hai coal-fired power complex, which has a total capacity of 4,244 MW to be built in three phases, the power plant will be furnished with two 622-MW, subcritical, coal-fired units made by the DEC.

In April this year, the SEPCC3 won the construction and erection contract for the main powerhouse from the DEC, the general contractor of the project. The placing of the first bucket of concrete for the boiler foundation of Unit 1 marks that the main work for the project has fully kicked off.

As reported, the project is not only a modern, large-scale, coal-fired power plant built by the government of Vietnam to alleviate its power shortage, but also a political project designed by the government to promote the economic development of the old revolutionary area. According to the schedule, the project will begin operations in 2014. Upon completion, the project will promote local economic development.
