Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The Chilean branch of Norway’s Statkraft SF SN Power, the biggest Norwegian power producer and power trader, recently announced plans to construct a 50-megawatt (MW) wind generating farm to be located in the Canela municipality in the fourth region of Chile. The $100M wind park will be equipped with 27 turbines and is scheduled to begin operation at the beginning of 2009.

SN Power executive of Latin American operations Nils Huseby, said that they want to be present in Chile and all over Latin America developing energy projects in the region that have low environmental and social impacts. At the same time, the company is designing four new hydro plants in Chile with a combined capacity of 580MW.
