South Carolina Yutaka Technologies Expanding Tier 1 Automotive Supply Capabilities

South Carolina Yutaka Technologies Incorporated (SCYT) (Lugoff, South Carolina), a Japanese supplier of parts for Honda All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), is currently undergoing a $7 Million expansion at their Lugoff, South Carolina manufacturing plant (Plant ID 1040182).
Located in Kershaw County, the expansion includes growth of their existing catalytic converter product line and the addition of an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) aluminum wheel stamping process. The expansion includes a 24,000 square foot building addition to the existing facility to house a large stamping press and related machining equipment to support the aluminum wheel operation. The wheels will be supplied to Honda's South Carolina plant, located in Timmonsville. The catalytic converter process is expected to consist of a highly automated line using numerous robots and will be supplied to Honda Manufacturing of America located in Lincoln, Alabama.
Construction is expected to start in late September 2003 or early October 2003 and is expected to be completed by Spring 2004. 70 full-time positions are expected to be added by the Summer 2004.
South Carolina Yutaka Technologies, Incorporated is a manufacturing facility supplying a variety of components to the Honda Manufacturing facilities in Ohio, Alabama, and South Carolina. SCTY is a Tier 1 supplier to Honda, producing ATV, motorcycle and automotive related parts.
Yutaka Technologies also has a facility in Cardington, Ohio called Cardington Yutaka Technologies (CYT), which is an automotive parts supplier for Honda of America Manufacturing.
Fitts & Goodwin Incorporated (Columbia, South Carolina) will be the General Contractors for the expansion. Fitts & Goodwin, founded in January 1984, is a general contractor offering construction and design/build services to industrial, commercial and institutional clients throughout the Southeast.
