Suez Renewable Completes $102 Million Expansion Project at West Cape Windfarm

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Suez Renewable Energy North America (Toronto, Ontario), a subsidiary of Suez SA (EPA:SZE) (Paris, France), has completed construction and is set to begin commercial operation of the $102 million, 79-megawatt (MW) expansion project at the West Cape Windfarm, located near West Point, Quebec.

Construction for the project began earlier this year and was completed in the fall. Suez Renewable Energy anticipates full commercial operation of the new project by the end of December. The project consisted of installing 441.8-MW Vestas Wind Systems (CPH:VWS) (Randers, Denmark) V80 model wind turbine generators, to the existing facility, giving the plant a total output capacity of nearly 100 MW. Once operational, West Cape will be able to provide enough energy for nearly 30,000 homes.
