Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Suzlon Energy Limited (BSE:532667), one of the world's largest wind turbine manufacturers, with about 12% of the global market share, has commissioned its 31.5-megawatt (MW) Tejuva windfarm project in Rajasthan. This was its seventh order from Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML), a frequent customer of Suzlon.
This project comprises 15 units of Suzlon's 2.1-MW wind turbines at the Tejuva site in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, where Suzlon has more than 500 MW of wind turbines already operational for different customers. It is estimated that this project is sufficient to generate enough electricity to power more than 6,000 households in the region.
Suzlon is providing a comprehensive suite of services, including turbine supply; engineering, procurement and construction; lifetime operations; maintenance; and others covering the entire value chain for the project.
RSMML, a Rajasthan state-owned company involved in the production and marketing of non-metallic minerals, is one of India's leading companies in the sector. The company entered the energy sector with a commitment to renewable energy and a goal to achieve 100 MW of wind power capacity by 2010; but after the commissioning of this project in March 2010, RSMML achieved the target well ahead of its schedule.
Rajasthan has installed about 1,000 MW of wind energy and has continuously demonstrated its commitment to reduce carbon emission levels in the past decade. It has invested in numerous wind energy projects over the past eight years, making it a leading generator of renewable energy in the country.
