Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Compania Espanola de Petroleos SA (MCE:CEP) (CEPSA) (Madrid, Spain) will begin a planned maintenance turnaround in March at the 105,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Tenerife refinery at the Canary Islands.
The planned maintenance overhaul, which is scheduled to last 25 nonproduction days, is set to start on March 2. The turnaround will involve all areas of the refinery: distillation area, catalytic cracking area and auxiliary services. Plant authorities expect to restart all of the refinery's processing units by March 26. The 90,000-BBL/d Cadu 2 (crude unit), will undergo a second phase of revamp work during the overhaul that will be mainly focused on decreasing the pressure generated in the fractioning tower and to improve furnace consumption. Phase I was completed in March 2007 and also focused on improving furnace consumption.
CEPSA, the first private oil company in Spain, has been operating since 1929. The company has three refineries in the country: the 220,000-BBL/d Gibraltar-San Roque, 100,000-BBL/d La Rabida and Tenerife.
