Top Crop Windfarm to Be Brought Online in Illinois

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugarland, Texas)--Horizon Wind Energy LLC (Houston, Texas) will bring approximately 102 megawatts (MW) online from their newly developed Top Crop Windfarm in Blackstone, Illinois.

Phase I of Top Crop Windfarm consists of 68 GE sle 1.5-MW wind turbines, which will produce a nameplate capacity of 102 MW when completed. Horizon Wind's commercial operating date (COD) was in October 2009.

Horizon Wind is expecting to add another phase to the Top Crop Windfarm. When completed, Phase II of the Top Crop Windfarm will generate an extra 200 MW. Construction for Phase II is expected to begin in the spring of 2010 with a COD anticipated around the end of 2010.

White Construction (Clinton, Indiana) provided the mechanical and overall supervision of turnkey services for the first phase, and Sargent & Lundy LLC (Chicago, Illinois) performed the electrical design and installation services.
