TransCanada Energy Completes Construction of $110 Million Windfarm in Quebec

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Cartier Wind Energy LLC, a joint venture between Innergex Renewable Energy Incorporated (TSX:INE) (Montreal, Quebec) and TransCanada Energy Limited, a subsidiary of Trans Canada Corporation (NYSE:TRP) (Calgary, Alberta), has begun full commercial operation of the $110 million, 110-megawatt (MW) Carleton windfarm in Carleton, Quebec.

Construction began in July 2008 and was completed in the fall. Commercial operation began this month. The project consisted of constructing 73 1.5-MW GE Energy sle model wind turbine generators in Avignon near Carleton. The energy generated by the new facility will be sold to Hydro-Quebec under a 20-year power-purchase agreement.
