Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--Operators of the Central Pilar combined-cycle power plant in Argentina have postponed the restart of a 175-megawatt (MW) Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (Munich, Germany) N11 combustion turbine until early April.
The turbine originally was scheduled to restart in March, after months of unplanned maintenance.
Central Pilar is equipped with two 175-MW, natural gas-fired, Siemens SGT5 - 2000E model V94.2 combustion turbines in combined cycle, with one 160-MW Franco Tosi (Legnano, Italy) steam turbine.
The N11 turbine went out of service in September due to a failure in the lubrication oil system. Its repair was covered by a warranty and by the Secretariat of the Nation (Buenos Aires, Argentina). The maintenance cost $19 million.
The second combined-cycle turbine, the N12, will undergo maintenance after the N11 turbine returns to operation. Electroingeniería (Cordoba, Argentina) is scheduled to perform this maintenance, including a hot gas path inspection, in April.
The plant is expected to reach full capacity in June. It will provide 510 MW to the national grid.
