Typhoon Vongfong, locally named Ambo, made landfall this week in the Philippines' eastern islands and is likely to hit mainland Luzon Island over the weekend. Typhoon Vongfong, with maximum winds of about 155 kilometers per hour, is expected to yield violent winds and heavy rains as it passes through the Philippines.

As many as 91 power facilities and substations, with more than 11,000 megawatts (MW) of power capacity, could be affected, and more than 60 operational plants are in the path of the typhoon.
