We Energies Begins Construction of 545-Megawatt Wisconsin Expansion

We Energies (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), a subsidiary of Wisconsin Energy Corporation (NYSE:WEC ), has started construction of the $300 million 545-egawatt combined-cycle expansion project at its Port Washington Power Station located in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.

Construction for the project started last month and full commercial operations of the new project is scheduled for the summer of 2008. The project will consist of adding two 170-megawatt natural gas-fired GE Power Systems MS7001FA combustion turbine generators, two Alstom Power, Incorporated heat recovery steam generators equipped with duct burners and a 205-megawatt GE Power System D-11 condensing steam turbine generator. The project also features state-of-the-art air emissions reduction technology, including selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for the reduction of NOx emissions and the use of catalytic oxidation for the control of CO emissions.

Wisconsin Power Constructors (Port Washington, Wisconsin), a subsidiary of Washington Group International, headquartered in Boise, Idaho, is providing the turnkey E+P+C services for the project.
