Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a huge impact on the world's economy, sugar producers in Brazil expect 2021 to be one of the most promising years for the sugar industry and expect Brazil to remain as one of the industry's leading countries, increasing sugar production by 10% compared to 2020 results. The company Cooperativa de Colonizacao Agropecuaria e Industria Pindorama Ltda, with a sugar plant in Coruripe, Alagoas, will invest more than R$22 million ($3.86 million) to improve sugar cane processing area and install a new mill and a new biomass boiler.
