March 22, 2023--Researched by Amir Richani for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Brazilian National Council for Energy Policy (CNPE) has called for strengthening Brazil's downstream sector, in line with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's view of a more robust Petrobras (NYSE:PBR), Brazil's national oil company. Last week, the CNPE revoked a resolution that established guidelines for divesting refining assets in Brazil. The resolution was passed under the previous administration of Jair Bolsonaro, and it was signed by former Minister of Energy and Mines Bento Albuquerque.
