NEW DELHI--July 28, 2022--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Egyptian refiners aim to ramp up domestic kerosene production by 28.8 million barrels per year by 2027. Kerosene is mainly used for household uses in Egypt, but the industry's primary focus is to satisfy the rising domestic demand for jet fuel.

Middle East Oil Refinery (MIDOR) (Alexandria, Egypt) intends to convert the 28,600-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) diesel hydrotreater unit to a kerosene hydrotreater at its 115,000-BBL/d Alexandria Middle East Oil Refinery by September 2022. Alexandria Petroleum Company (APC), Sokhna Refining and Petrochemicals Company (SRPC), Red Sea National Refining and Petrochemicals Company (RSNRPC) (New Cairo) and Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (New Cairo) plan to add a combined 39,000-BBL/d of kerosene/jet fuel production capacity by 2026. Suez Oil Processing Company (SOPC) (Suez) expects to start up the 12,600-BBL/d kerosene hydrotreater at its Suez Refinery by the end of 2027.
