Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The signing ceremony for the main equipment contract for Hebi Tongli Power Generation Company Limited's (Hebi, Henan) 1,320-megawatt (MW), coal-fired Heqi Project was held in Zhengzhou, the capital city of central China's Henan province, on June 8, 2013, according to an announcement from Henan Investment Group Company Limited (HIG) (Zhengzhou, Henan) on June 13, 2013.
According to the contract, DEC Limited will be responsible for supplying turbines, generators and boilers (TGB) for the project.
The Heqi Power Plant, located at the north side of Yuanbenmiao Village in Miaokou Town, Heqi County of Hebi City, is invested by HIG and designed by Henan Electric Power Survey & Design Institute (Zhengzhou, Henan). The project will be furnished with two 660-MW, coal-fired, supercritical units. The total investment will be about $780 million. Upon completion, the project will replace the two existing 200-MW, coal-fired units owned by Hebi Wanhe Power Generation Company Limited (Hebi, Henan).
The project received preliminary approval from the National Energy Administration (NEA) to kick off pre-stage preparation in February 2012. In November 2012, Henan Investment Group awarded the engineering contract for the project to Henan Electric Power Survey & Design Institute (Zhengzhou, Henan), a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (Beijing).
With the signing of the TGB main equipment contract, construction of the project is ready to begin shortly. Subject to final approval, construction of the project is expected to kick off in August 2013. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operations in 2015. Upon completion, the project will promote local economic development, ensure stability in the local power supply, and play an important role in improving energy utilization efficiency and regional air quality.
Among the leaders and representatives who attended the signing ceremony were Fan Xiufang, mayor of Hebi City; Zhu Lianchang, president of HIG; and Zhang Zhiying, executive vice president of Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (DEC Limited) (Chengdu, Sichuan) (SH:600875).
