ADM Officially Opens Its First U.S. Commercial Biodiesel Plant in North Dakota

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE:ADM) (ADM) (Decatur, Illinois) has begun producing biodiesel at its new and only U.S. biodiesel plant near its vegetable oil refinery and crushing operation in Velva, North Dakota. The 85 million-gallon-per-year plant is running at nameplate capacity and is expected to produce 800 tons per day of the renewable fuel.
The plant is ADMs first wholly owned biodiesel plant in the U.S. The company also holds interest as a partner in the Mid-America Biofuels 30 million-gallon-per-year plant in Mexico, Missouri.
ADM is the worlds leader in bioenergy and holds a premier position in the agricultural-processing value chain. ADM is one of the worlds largest processors of soybeans, corn, wheat and cocoa. It is also a leading manufacturer of biodiesel, ethanol, soybean oil and meal, corn sweeteners, flour and other value-added food and feed ingredients. The company has more than 26,000 employees, more than 240 processing plants and had net sales of $37 billion for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2006.
