Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the erection of the first boiler steel beam for Unit 4 of Shenhua Shenwan Wanjiang Power Generation Company Limited's (Anqing, Anhui) Anqing Power Plant Phase II 2,000-megawatt (MW) expansion project on August 26, according to the CEEC announced on August 28, 2013.

The Anqing Power Plant Phase II Expansion Project is located at the expansion side of the existing 600-MW plant at the north bank of the Changjiang River in Laofeng Town, Yingjiang District of Anqing City. The project is the first power source project invested in by Shenwan Energy Company Limited (Hefei, Anhui), a joint venture of China Shenhua Energy (51%) and Anhui Energy Group (Hefei, Anhui) (49%), established in 2010.

In August 2012, the project received approval from the National Energy Administration to kick off pre-stage preparation. According to the approval, the project will be furnished two 1,000-MW ultra-supercritical water-cooled coal-fired units together with a limestone plaster wet method flue gas desulfurization device and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) denitration device with a total investment of about $1.2 billion.

In the same month, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project was officially awarded to the Consortium of North China Power Engineering Company Limited (NCPE) (Beijing) and China Power Construction Engineering Consulting Corporation (CPCEC) (Beijing), two subsidiaries of the CEEC. The turbines, generators and boilers (TGB) main equipment of the project were awarded to Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan) and Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai) in September 2012.

Construction of the project kicked off November 20, 2012. According to the schedule, the first unit (Unit 3) of the project will be put into operation by the end of 2014, and the unit contracted to APEC1 will be put into operation at the beginning of 2015.
