Alliant Energy Begins Construction for new Peaking Project in Sheboygan Falls

Alliant Energy Generation (AEG) (Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE: LNT) (Madison, Wisconsin), has begun construction for the $150 Million Sheboygan Falls Energy Facility located in Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held early August 2004 for the project, and full commercial operation is scheduled to begin during Summer 2005. The site is currently owned by Power Ventures Group, LLC (PVG), a subsidiary of Burns & McDonnell, an engineering and construction management firm, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. The plant is expected, at its peak, to employ approximately 150 workers, with an estimated $6 million payroll.
The 300-megawatt project will consist of two simple-cycle 172-megawatt natural gas-fired GE Power Systems MS7001FA PG7241 (FA) combustion turbine generators that will operate in a peaking capacity at a maximum of 1,795 hours per year. The new peaking plant was designed to help meet the growing electrical demands of Wisconsin Power and Light (WP&L) (a subsidiary of Alliant Energy) customers.
Burns & McDonnell headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri are the turnkey EPC contractors for the project.
