Argentina's Rincon de los Sauces Thermal Power Station to Open in First Quarter 2010

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 25-megawatt (MW) Rincon de los Sauces Thermal Power Plant under construction in Rincon de los Sauces, in the province of Neuquen, is expected to be brought online in the first quarter of 2010. Construction on the $35 million project started in early 2009.

The project is 191 kilometers north of the capital city of Neuquen, in the Municipality of Pehuenches. The powerhouse will be equipped with 21 GE Jenbacher internal combustion engines supplied by GE Energy (Atlanta, Georgia), a division of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut). The units will be powered by natural gas.

The company is considering the possibility of increasing the plant output to 40 MW about a year after startup, plant officials told Industrial Info.
