The company selected the 41 acre site east of the small town of Britton after nearly a year of searching for a suitable location.

Jaytec LLC, a subsidiary of L&W Engineering Company (Belleville, Michigan) is planning to construct a new steel tube mill in Britton, Michigan. The project is being managed out of L&W Engineering's Belleville corporate office. L&W Engineering will release bid packages shortly for a general contractor to construct the 77,000 square foot steel building. The $15 million project is expected to start construction in September and the company hopes to be up and operating by early next year.
Automotive components manufacturer, L&W Engineering has several plants in the area including one in Blissfield, Michigan. The company selected the 41 acre site east of the small town of Britton after nearly a year of searching for a suitable location. Last year, the company made steps to purchase the former Hayes-Lemmerz plant in neighboring Summerfield, but problems with the 47 acre site, delayed the project and caused them to look elsewhere in the Lenawee county area. Hayes-Lemmerz had closed that plant last year.
Jaytec operates a temporary plant in Spring Arbor, Michigan (Plant 1061558). That plant will be closed and production relocated to the new plant once it becomes operational next year. The new plant will manufacturer tubular steel parts such as heat shield and side impact beams for several automotive companies in the Detroit area.
Future expansion of the plant is a possibility.
