BioEnergy International Progressing with Construction of Pennsylvania Ethanol Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--BioEnergy International LLC (Quincy, Massachusetts), is progressing with construction activity on their Bionol Clearfield LLC ethanol plant project in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, one of the few ethanol projects to start in 2008.

In February, the company reached a five-year off-take agreement with Getty Petroleum & Marketing, a subsidiary of Lukoil Americas Corporation (East Meadow, New York) that sealed the deal for the project to move forward. Lukoil Americas, the American branch of the Russian company Lukoil (OTC:LUKOY) (Moscow), is also a partner in the venture.

Construction of the plant started in February of 2008 and the company is aiming for a late 2009 completion date. Plans call for the creation of a 110-million-gallon-per-year fuel ethanol plant using approximately 40 million bushels of corn annually. The plant is being constructed by the design-build team of ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) and Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota).

BioEnergy International also plans to construct a pilot-scale cellulosic ethanol production plant at the site. The company is developing another plant in Louisiana, Bionol Lake Providence LLC. This project is on-hold until the company can reach another off-take contract. Pilings were driven at the site in late 2006, but no building materials or equipment has been sent to the site. Plans to move forward on this 110 million-gallon-per year-plant are expected to happen in the spring of 2009.
