The project seeks to install a new boiler that will utilize biomass as its primary fuel and will replace an old biofuel boiler. The new boiler will have a capacity to produce 160,000 pounds per hour, with a pressure of 1,233 pounds per square inch, and will work at a temperature of 896 degrees Fahrenheit. Infrastructure construction is expected to begin in April 2011, and the boiler is scheduled to be operational during the last quarter of 2012, specifically in October.
Correia Pinto Paper Mill is in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The plant currently produces 160,000 tons of pulp and 190,000 tons of kraft paper per year. The facility is also equipped with a 38-megawatt powerhouse that provides energy for the mill's self-consumption; the excess is sold to the national grid. At present, aproximately 350 people work at the facility.
Klabin, a company that produces and commercializes wood and paper products, has more than 17 operating mills in various Brazilian states and exports its products throughout five continents.
