Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Canadian Solar Incorporated (NASDAQ:CSIQ) (Guelph, Ontario) plans to construct a solar photovoltaic (PV) power station near the municipality of Aguascalientes, located in Aguascalientes state in north-central Mexico. The $155 million power station will be located at about nine kilometers southwest of Aguascalientes.
MIRE, SA de CV, which was formed by Martifer Solar (Portugal), Energia ECG (Portugal), SAPI de CV (Mexico City) and Ithaca Environmental Ventures Limited (Mexico City), will provide the engineering, procurement and construction services for the project. MIRE will also source out the land, determining the interconnection point to the electrical grid plus the full development of the project. The Potencia I PV power station will consist of a single-axis tracking system with CS6X 310-P polycrystalline photovoltaic solar panels. Once completed, the station will provide about 63 megawatts (MW), which is enough electricity for 40,000 to 50,000 homes.
The project is estimated to create about 200 site preparation and construction jobs. About 10-15 permanent positions will be created for labor security, operation and maintenance.
This project is scheduled to break ground sometime in from October to November 2016. The station is slated for full operations in September 2018.
