CenterPoint Energy Plans Natural Gas Pipeline Expansion in Oklahoma

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission Company (CEGT) (Houston, Texas), a subsidiary of CenterPoint Energy Incorporated (NYSE:CNP) (Houston, Texas), is planning to expand its natural gas pipeline AD in Caddo, Hughes, and Grady Counties, Oklahoma. CEGT has signed a ten-year precedent agreement with ONEOK Energy Services Company LP for 90%, or 100,000 of the 112,000 Dekatherms per day of new capacity the expansion will provide. The agreement is contingent on the new facilities being in service by November 1, 2005. The remaining 12,900 Dekatherms will be open to potential future markets. CEGT will spend $31.9 million to install 28,245 horsepower of new compression at two new compressor stations, and an existing site, as part of its Line AD Expansion Project.

CEGT plans to construct the new Allen compressor station in Caddo County. A single 13,200 horsepower Solar Mars turbine series 90 will be installed at the Allen compressor station. In Hughes County, CEGT will construct the new Hinton compressor station based on a single 10,310 horsepower Solar Taurus turbine series 70. At the existing Amber compressor station in Grady County, CEGT will install a new 4,735 horsepower Caterpillar G3616TA engine compressor set, with an HG exhaust silencer, inlet scrubber, and a motor driven water cooler.

Over the next ten years, CEGT expects to receive $72.8 million in revenue from the Line AD Expansion Project before a service outlay of $50 million over the same time period is considered, which includes a daily fuel consumption rate of 4,300 Dekatherms. CEGT expects to select contractors and receive all regulatory approvals for the Line AD Expansion Project in April 2005. Construction on the project will begin soon there after, with a completion and in-service date as mentioned before of November of 2005.
