Industrial Info is currently tracking over $400 million in future project activity planned in Alabama that has yet to begin construction with the majority of it planned to kick-off this year. In 2006, Industrial Info reported a total of 23 CPI projects in the state valued at over $270 million; this year 19 new projects have already been reported with a total investment value (TIV) of over $200 million. Considering we are just entering the second quarter of 2007, this is a very positive start to the year.
3M Company (Minneapolis, Minnesota) is providing much of the CPIs momentum in the state with several large ongoing expansions and additions at its Decatur, Alabama plant site. Acting as the construction manager, PCL Construction Services (Burnsville, Mississippi) is currently erecting steel for a new, approximately 100,000 square foot building, for a new specialty film line addition. Equipment deliveries are expected this summer with the new line starting up in the spring of 2008. Austin AECOM (Chicago, Illinois) has been selected as the design-build for a new resin unit addition at the site which is expected to begin construction in the field sometime this summer.
According to the North American Project Database , the level of CPI project activity and spending in Alabama has continued to increase significantly in recent years.
Industrial Info maintains a database of over 2,400 industrial plants located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States.
