U.S. Drillers Add Rigs for Third Week - U.S. energy firms added oil and natural gas rigs for a third week in a row for the first time since October 2018. The oil and gas rig count rose five to 266 in the week ending October 2. U.S. oil rigs rose six to 189 this week while gas rigs fell by one to 74, according to Baker Hughes data. (Reuters)

National Grid Aims for Net-Zero Carbon Emissions in U.S. by 2050 - Britain's National Grid (NYSE:NGG), a supplier of power and natural gas, on Friday pledged to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in its U.S. operations by 2050, including from operations and emissions resulting from the sale of electricity and gas. Noble Shareholders Approve $4.2 Billion Sale to Chevron - Noble Energy (NASDAQ:NBL) shareholders on Friday approved a deal to sell the oil and gas producer to Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX), making Chevron the No. 2 U.S. shale oil producer and giving it international natural gas reserves close to growing markets. The all-stock deal values Noble Energy at around $4.2 billion. (Reuters)
