Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Following the commissioning of the first 1,000-megawatt (MW) unit on August 16, 2012, the second unit (Unit 2) of China Resources Power (Hezhou) Company Limited's Hezhou Power Plant passed the 168-hour, continuous, full-load trial operation and was put into commercial operation ahead of schedule again on November 4, 2012, according to an announcement from Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), the project contractor, on November 5.
During the trial operation, the maximum load of the unit reached 1,057.5 megawatt-hours. Various tests, including 100% load rejection test, were all completed, and all protection devices, instruments and automation were in full operation. The test results show that various technical indicators of the unit are rated at an excellent level.
The China Resources Hezhou Power Plant is a key power source support point in the northern passage of the nation's plant to transmit power from to the east in the Guangxi autonomous region. The power station has a total planned capacity of 4,000 MW to be built in two phases; Phase I is furnished with two 1,000-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with flue gas desulfuration and denitration devices.
The power plant is invested by China Resources Power Holding Company Limited (Hong Kong). Early in 2007, China Resources Power had signed an agreement with the local government to build a large-scale power plant in Hezhou. Groundbreaking of the project was held in September 2009. In April 2010, the project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
The construction contract of the project was then awarded to Shandong Electric Power Construction No. 2 Engineering Company Limited (SEPCO2) (Jinan, Shandong), Hubei Electric Power No.1 Construction Company Limited (HEPC1) (Wuhan, Hubei) and Anhui Electric Power No.2 Construction Company Limited (Hefei, Anhui). Successful commissioning of the second unit means that Phase I of China Resources Hezhou Power Plant has been fully completed.
