Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first 1,000-megawatt (MW) unit of China Resources Power (Hezhou) Company Limited's Hezhou Power Station passed the 168-hour continuous, full-load trial operation and was put into commercial operation on August 16, 2012, according to an announcement from Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing), the project contractor, on August 17, 2012.
During the trial operation, various tests, including the 100% load rejection test, were completed, and all protection devices, instruments and automation were fully in operation. The test results show that the various technical indictors of the unit are at advanced levels in China, according to the PCCC announcement.
The China Resources Hezhou Power Station is a key power source support point in the north passage of the program in the Guangxi autonomous region to transmit power eastward. The station is also the first power project invested by China Resources Power Holding Company Limited (Hong Kong) in Guangxi. The power station has a total planned capacity of 4,000 MW to be built in two phases. Phase I is furnished with two 1,000-MW ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units, together with flue gas desulfuration and denitration devices.
Early in 2007, China Resources Power signed an agreement with the local government to build a large-scale power plant in Hezhou. Groundbreaking of the project was held in September 2009. In April 2010, the project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission. The construction contract for the project was then awarded to Shandong Electric Power Construction No.2 Engineering Company Limited (Jinan, Shandong), Hubei Electric Power No.1 Construction Company Limited (Wuhan, Hubei) and Anhui Electric Power No.2 Construction Company Limited (Hefei, Anhui).
The commissioning of the unit is an important step in improving the power source structure, the stability and the reliability of the power supply in the Guangxi grid. The project also will greatly promote the local economic development.
