Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--EC Source Services (Mesa, Arizona) has been selected to construct Rocky Mountain Power's (Salt Lake City, Utah) $375 million Mona-Oquirrh Transmission Line.
The project includes a 69-mile, high-voltage overhead double-circuit 500-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and a 77-mile, 345-kV transmission line, running from PacifiCorp's Mona Substation (Mona, Utah) to Oquirrh Substation (Salt Lake City). Along the line, two new 500-kV and 138-kV substations will be constructed, and existing ones will be modified.
The construction kickoff is planned for this summer, with completion expected in 2013. The scope of work includes the construction of an underground network of pipes, cable lines and manholes. Manholes are used by construction workers to reach the network and install transmission cables or perform maintenance. Building towers, access roads, and the stringing of lines are big parts of the project, along with steel tower foundations.
EPG Incorporated was involved early in the project with environmental permitting and regulations, with Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kansas) providing engineering services.
