Domtar Takes Downtime at North Carolina Pulp Mill

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Domtar Corporation (NYSE:UFS) (Montreal, Quebec) will commence scheduled maintenance activities at a kraft pulp mill in Plymouth, North Carolina, today (March 14). Domtar will perform major repairs, routine maintenance and small capital projects over a two-week period. Domtar will utilize the services of hundreds of contractors and suppliers during the shutdown.

At the end of 2010, the Plymouth mill was converted to a 100% fluff pulp operation and will have an annual production capacity of 444,000 metric tons.

The Plymouth mill comprises two fiber lines, including a bleach plant and chemical recovery area; two pulp machines; and electrical generating units.
