Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). El Paso Corporation (NYSE:EP) (Houston Texas) is one step closer to beginning construction on the 380-Mile Cheyenne Plains Pipeline (PEC 41000472). EL Paso has received the majority of its FERC permits and expects to receive its Title V air permit for the new Cheyenne Compressor Station (PEC 41000474) in March of 2004.

The $340 million 30" diameter Cheyenne Plains Pipeline will originate in the Cheyenne Hub near Carr Colorado and terminate near Greensburg Kansas and will have an initial capacity of 500 mmscfd of natural gas expandable to 1.2 Bcf/d by constructing five additional compressor stations at a later date. Compression for the initial phase of the pipeline will be supplied by a single compressor station near Carr Colorado and will utilize two 10,000 horsepower Solar Taurus T-70 turbine based compressor sets and a single 2,500 horsepower internal combustion unit. On the same site as the new compressor station, El Paso will construct a 1,050 gallon per minute gas processing amine plant with a throughput capacity of 300 mmscfd.

El Paso expects to bid out the compressor station to engineering and construction contractors in late September and place pipe bids for the main line on October 2, 2003. Construction is expected to begin in July of 2004 with a target completion date of December 2004 for service.
