Florida Power & Light Company (Juno Beach, Florida) began construction for an expansion at the Martin County Power Station. The Martin County Power Station is located in Indiantown, Florida in Martin County.
The plant currently generates about 2,800 megawatts (MW) of power. The expansion of the plant will consist of converting two of the existing GE Power Systems MS7001FA (Frame 7FA) combustion turbine peaking units, along with two new Frame 7FA's and a Toshiba steam turbine. This expansion will create a more efficient combined-cycle configuration (four gas turbines connected to one steam turbine), which will provide 800 (MW) of additional power.
The owner's engineering contract was awarded to Black & Veatch Corporation headquartered in Overland, Kansas. Black & Veatch Corporation is a leading global engineering, construction and consulting company specializing in infrastructure development in the fields of energy, water and information.
The general construction contract was awarded to Zachry Construction Company Corporation located in San Antonio, Texas. Zachry Construction Company provides a wide array of services including construction, project development, construction management and industrial maintenance to both domestic and international customers.
