GE Power has announced the arrival of one of two gas turbines, a 9HA.02 1-on-1 a multi-shaft configuration, to be installed in the Jawa-1 power plant project in Indonesia. It is a combined-cycle gas project located in Karawang, West Java, set to be the most efficient gas turbine and largest combined-cycle single shaft block plant in Southeast Asia.

Despite the many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, strict protocols and procedures were set in place to ensure the safety of all personnel involved. This is an important milestone for Indonesia as its pioneers the utilization of the most efficient gas turbine in the world, connected to its national electricity system network.

The Jawa-1 power plant project is part of the Indonesian government's 35-gigawatt electrification initiative and aims to increase the national electric capacity by 1,760 megawatts, equivalent to the electric supply of 11 million homes in Indonesia.
