Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is tracking $93.73 billion in active Chemical Processing Industry projects in the eight market regions that comprise Texas and Louisiana's Gulf Coast region. More than half of these projects are still in the planning stages, but almost $28 billion worth are already in the construction phase.
In its upcoming Market Outlook in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which will be held Wednesday, November 16, Industrial Info's industry experts will present spending outlooks for the Power, Petroleum Refining, Oil & Gas, and Petrochemicals industries. Space is limited for this event, so make sure to RSVP today .
"There is an abundance of optimism about future spending in the U.S. Chemical Processing Industry: Natural gas prices remain low, oil prices are far less volatile than they have been in years, and consumer/chemical demand is consistent, albeit lower than most producers desire," said Trey Hamblet, Industrial Info's vice president of global research for the Chemical Processing Industry.
Currently, there are hundreds of projects proposed to begin construction over the next two years that have been delayed numerous times already. These delays are the simple result of too much new capacity being proposed and added all at one time.
Industrial Info's Market Outlook in Baton Rouge will provide insight into which projects are more or less likely to begin construction in the near future; which industry segments are outpacing others; and which segments have the greatest odds of witnessing an increase over past years.
Major unit additions and grassroot construction have accounted for a significant portion of the industry's spending in recent years. That trend doesn't seem to be slowing as plans for several multi-billion dollar projects are in the planning phase.
The largest planned project at the moment is the $9.4 billion St James Parish Petrochemical Complex in Gramercy, Louisiana, planned by Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (Taipei, Taiwan). The second-largest project is a $6 billion petrochemicals complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to be built by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) in a joint venture with Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) (Irving, Texas). For more information, including schedules, equipment and environmental requirements, and contractor contact information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the Gramercy and Baton Rouge projects.
