Indiana Ethanol Plant Begins Production

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings Incorporated (OTC:AVRW) (Pekin, Illinois) began producing fuel ethanol at the company's plant in Mount Vernon, Indiana, last week.

Aventine began construction on the plant in 2007 and stopped in 2008 because of financial issues. In February 2009, Aventine filed for bankruptcy and emerged 13 months later. Construction was restarted on the plant, and startup production commenced in November. Production is incrementally increasing to full capacity of 110 million gallons annually. The facility uses corn as feedstock and produces distillers dried grains as a byproduct.

The campus is located adjacent to the Ohio River near Southwind Port and Highway 62 in Mount Vernon, Indiana, approximately 20 miles west of Evansville, Indiana. The plant has 45 employees.

Aventine's fuel ethanol plant in Aurora, Nebraska, is expected to begin production early next year. AVRE also has a 47 million-gallon-per-year fuel ethanol plant in Pekin, Illinois, and a shuttered plant in Canton, Illinois.

Currently, there are 12 operational ethanol production plants in the state of Nebraska and six are in the planning stages.
