Indonesia Brightens Market for Solar, Hydropower Projects, an Industrial Info Market Brief

Harris Yayah, Minister for the Indonesian Energy Ministry's Directorate General of Renewable Energy, recently said Indonesia will bolster its hydro and solar power-generation capacities. Indonesia's infrastructure for hydro and solar is readily available and more affordable, when compared with other types of renewable energy resources, and the Kalimantan and Java regions are believed to have particularly strong potential.
Harris is hopeful recent changes in laws and regulations will convince more companies to invest in these projects, including lower tariffs, additional incentives and simpler pricing. Also, some companies will no longer need to negotiate pricing with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara.
Industrial Info is tracking more than 860 hydro and solar projects in Indonesia, with an estimated total value of nearly $75 billion. Click here for a list, and see graph below for a breakdown by province.
