Japan's Jera Passes on Wind Projects Offshore Taiwan

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--JERA, a 50:50 joint venture between Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tokyo, Japan) and Chubu Electric Power Company Incorporated (Aichi, Japan), is backing out as a partner in Taiwan's Formosa 3 wind project. This leaves Corio Generation as the only developer for Haiding 2 and 3, which are two of the three sites comprising Formosa 3.

JERA said the project's equity is too high. However, JERA will not fully withdraw from Taiwan's energy market. Taiwan's Bureau of Energy said JERA's move will not affect the investment process and will review Corio's potential for the sites.
