The Lederne trade union in Norway, which represents managers, engineers and technical staff, initiated a strike on October 5 across four of Equinor's offshore oil fields in the Norwegian continental shelf.
As a result of the planned strike, Equinor performed a controlled shutdown of production at the Gina Kong, Gudrun, Kvitebjorn and Valemon offshore fields, which represents a decrease of 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, or approximately 8% of overall production across the shelf.
Unless a wage agreement can be reached by October 10, Lederne plans to strike at an additional three fields belonging to Equinor: Oseberg South, Oseberg East and Kristin.
