Projects in the Power and Industrial Manufacturing industries dominate the county's proposed second-quarter project starts.

The $1 billion facility will be built on 2,100 acres in Antelope Valley and could begin construction as early as June.
Approximately 75 miles south, in El Segundo, California, NRG Energy Incorporated (NSYE:NRG) (Princeton, New Jersey) is performing a combined-cycle power addition at its El Segundo Power Plant. Rounding out the top three projects in the county is Phase 2A of the Gold Line Foothill Light Rail Extension, which is proposed to begin construction in June. In addition to the 11.4-mile rail extension from East Pasadena through Azusa, a 330-foot-long, 180-foot-wide maintenance facility for the inspection and service of rail vehicles will be constructed.
