Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held Louis Dreyfus SAS (Paris, France) and subsidiary Louis Dreyfus Commodities Grand Junction LLC (Kansas City, Missouri) have entered into the fuel-ethanol production market with the start-up this month of a new 100 million-gallon-per-year ethanol plant in Grand Junction, Iowa.
The facility will require more than 38 million bushels per year of local corn feedstock to produce the fuel and will also generate 300,000 tons of distillers grains annually. The plant also created more than 30 new green-collar jobs for the rural community.
Louis Dreyfus acquired the project for then-developer Future Fuels LLC in July 2007. The plant is located on Highway 144 North of Grand Junction in Greene County.
The plant also represents Louis Dreyfus second entry into the alternative fuels market. The company put an 80 million-gallon-per-year into operation in Claypool, Indiana, in November 2007.
Industrial Info's Ethanol Database provides a comprehensive outline of all current development activities in the emerging alternative fuels market.
