Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The signing ceremony for the main construction contract for China Resources Power (Jiaozuo) Company Limited's (Jiaozuo, Henan) 1,200-megawatt (MW) Jiaozuo Power Plant was held in Zhengzhou, the capital city of Central China's Henan province, on May 19, 2013. The 600-MW inland demonstrative power plant invested by China Resources Power Holdings Limited (00836.HK) (Hong Kong) has taken an important step, according to an announcement from Henan No.2 Thermal Power Construction Company (HTPC2) (Zhengzhou, Henan), a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) (Beijing) and the construction contractor, on May 20.
As reported, HTPC2 won three bids with a total contract value of about $70 million for the project, including the construction and erection contract for both units and the erection of auxiliary equipment. Henan Electric Power Survey & Design Institute (Zhengzhou, Henan), another subsidiary of the PCCC, is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
China Resources Power Jiaozuo Power Plant is a cogeneration project located in Baishan Town, Boai County of Jiaozuo City. The main turbine, generator and boiler equipment for the project has long been awarded to Dongfang Electric Corporation (Chengdu, Sichuan) and Harbin Electric Corporation (Harbin, Heilongjiang), respectively, but the project didn't receive final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission until the end of 2011. Prior to the awarding of the main construction contract, the placement of the first bucket of concrete for foundation of the project kicked off on April 2, 2013.
According to the schedule, the first unit will begin operations in August 2014 and the second unit in November 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply heat to an area of 7.5 million square meters, and 150 tons per hour of steam for industrial users. It also will be able to send about 7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the grid every year.
