MeadWestvaco Gears Up for Maintenance Shutdown at Texas Mill

Downtime at the mill is expected to last between seven and eight days. The mill will utilize the services of contractors and suppliers during the shutdown period.

The mill employs more than 800 workers and produces more than 700,000 tons of pulp, paper and paperboard annually.

Operations at the Evadale site began in 1954. The mills fiber line is comprised of two continuous digesters, a bleach plant, a chlorine dioxide unit, and three black liquor recovery boilers. The paper mill operates two paper machines, as well as off-machine and on-machine coaters. Steam and power to the mill is provided by four power boilers and three steam-turbine generators.
