Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) (Carmel, Indiana) expects to approve the 500-kilovolt (kV) Hartburg-Sabine Junction transmission line project in Texas at the end of January.
The $130 million project will include 30 miles of overhead transmission line starting from the Hartburg substation and ending at the Sabine Substation. Entergy Texas Incorporated, part of Entergy Corporation (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana), will upgrade both substations by replacing transformers and electrical ring buses and installing new 500-Kv breakers.
The project consists of constructing and clearing rights of way, installing 500-kV transmission lines, transformer stations, access roads and tie lines. Temporary construction offices and accommodations for workers will be needed during the construction.
MISO recently released its 2017 Transmission Expansion Plan (MTEP 17) detailing new transmission projects scheduled to be constructed in the next seven years in the 15 states that MISO serves. The projects, valued at $2.7 billion, will address reliability issues, transmission congestion, seasonal transmission demand fluctuations and the integration of renewable energy.
