Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Mustus Energy Limited (Calgary, Alberta) received approval for an extension from the Alberta Utilities Commission on its 41.5-megawatt (MW) grassroot Windy Hill Biomass Power Plant. The facility is to be located in La Crete, Alberta.
Mustus Energy selected Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) (Fort Worth, Texas) as the construction management firm for the project in 2012, but Lockheed Martin was no longer involved by 2013. Mustus Energy is now looking for another contractor.
The company expects to release a request for proposal this fall to its preferred contractor, and it expects to break ground in the spring of 2015.

The plant will include two 20.75-MW Shin Nippon steam turbine generators and two Babcock & Wilcox boilers, along with the 144-kilovolt (kV) Windy Hill 675S substation, which also will be constructed by Mustus Energy.
A 144-kV transmission line to be constructed by ATCO Electric (Edmonton, Alberta) will run from its 144-kV Blumenort Substation to Mustus Energy's Wind Hill Substation. ATCO also will perform upgrades to the Blumenort Substation.
