Plant officials are investigating the issue, but will need to remove the head cover to find any damage. Repairs will resume after a thorough investigation.
Sources said they anticipate the unit will be out a few weeks, but acknowledge that it is difficult to predict without knowing what repairs will be needed. They hope to have the unit returned online by early January, possibly January 2, if there are no further delays.
The plant has two operational units with a total generating capacity of 1,353 MW.
