New York's FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant Continues to Find Problems in Unit 1

Reports related to this article:

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Unit 1 at the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in New York recently was forced offline due to issues with its condenser. This has been a reoccurring problem, most recently on May 5, when the 854-megawatt (MW) unit developed a condenser leak.

The station, which is in Scriba, New York, on the southeast shore of Lake Ontario, is owned and operated by Entergy Nuclear Generation Company (NYSE:ETR) (New Orleans, Louisiana).

Officials had been awaiting the next refueling outage, which is not scheduled until October, to make repairs, but must address it now. Officials currently expect to have the unit back online by the end of the week.

The nuclear power plant has one General Electric (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) boiling water reactor on the 900-acre site, which is shared with two other units at the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Generating Station.
